"Troubadour roots be dammed, on Rats!, Jason rocks!" - Dan Cook, The Old School Project (Sept 2022)
“Sees’ raspy, whispery vocals glide through each song, a combination of pop and mellow.” - Krikaw, KAMP Radio Reviews (Mar 4, 2015)
Bio: Jason Sees Band (JSB) is an indie alternative rock group based around the songwriting of Jason Sees. Since 2009 many musicians have come and gone through the orbit of Jason’s songwriting. However two constants have remained the same; drummer David Campbell and bassist Shaun O’Neill. Since joining forces the trio have built a catalog of great depth pushing 25+ total releases. “Dave and Shaun really are the foundation of our music; I constantly fall back on their talent” Jason states. At one point JSB had ballooned up to 6 members. Recently, after the departure of guitar player Benji Massello, the group has rekindled back to the original three. “I used to be obsessed with recreating the songs like they were portrayed on the recordings, often this took lots of musicians. However, as I’ve musically aged I have slowly to realize that either the songwriting stands on its own or not. If I don’t like the song with just the three of us playing it, then possibly the song wasn’t actually that good to begin with. Or maybe I’m just not good enough to play the guitar part and sing the song at the same time” Jason laughs.
A JSB trio is a new era for the band. A new single for 2024 “Spark” is a straight up the middle punker that is uncharacteristically heavy..and sad. A sneak peak at a new release due out July 19, 2024 is the same, more heavy guitars and gritty vocals. “I don’t know, listening to lots of heavier music lately, and just really wanting to turn amps up loud, recording with Joe again helps, he’s good at loud” Jason says referencing producer Joe Reineke of Meices and Alien Crime Syndicate fame. Both new songs are catchy as hell and uncharacteristically fun. Jason’s songwriting always seems to catch us off guard, which is what makes it fun.
The diversity of Jason’s catalog leads to a live show that traverses quite a bit of ground. From slow songwriters to 4 on the floor rock ragers their is a little something for everyone. With a well rounded Pacific Northwest summer tour schedule JSB is looking like they are hitting the ground running again after the pandemic stall. Its an exciting time and were just glad JSB is taking us along for the ride.
